Constructed using steel, glass and cement, the museum is situated at the foot of the Acropolis and brilliantly showcases the 4 000 artefacts discovered on the site. The glass flooring of the ground floor allows visitors to see the ruins of Ancient Athens. The Archaic Gallery presents the vestiges of the early Parthenon and the multimedia centre screens documentaries about the building. Finally, the Parthenon room restores the exact dimensions and orientation of the temple and displays the famous frieze.
