Construction of St-Trophime church began in the early 12C, with the addition of a magnificent sculpted gate - a perfect example of late southern Romanesque style - around 1180. Inside, the height of the nave and the narrow side aisles are striking, as is the plain Romanesque style of the nave which contrasts with the ribs and mouldings of the Gothic choir. The 4C sarcophagi and a beautiful Annunciation by Finsonius are of particular interest in the left transept.
