The Royal Fine Arts Museum is housed in a 19C building. Its façade of Corinthian columns is topped by bronze carriages by Vinçotte and decorated with four allegorical figures representing architecture, painting, sculpture and engraving. The museum boasts an exceptional collection of paintings, including some by the early Flemish painters and Rubens. Currently under renovation, the museum is planning an innovative layout which will be based around a "vertical museum" of new, modern rooms built in the old courtyards.
