The houses of this begijnhof are huddled within their brick enclosure. A roughly paved street, an orchard surrounded by hedges and a church that was rebuilt in the 19C make this a particularly pleasant place to visit. The church is decorated with paintings by Jordaens. An oratory houses a Christ in Bonds. Like all other UNESCO-listed Flemish beguinages, this serene self-contained area, nowadays inhabited by lucky civilians, is calming and spellbinding.
