A major example of early Renaissance in France, Hôtel Pincé is now home to an art museum. Based on the Ancient art collections of Turpin-de-Crissé (1782-1859), an artist from Angers and chamberlain to Empress Josephine, exhibits include Greek ceramics, Etruscan bronzes and Egyptian, Chinese and Japanese artefacts, among which a set of engravings by Hiroshige, The Tôkaidô Road. A new museum layout is planned for the near future.
