The nickname given to this museum's spectacular white steel extension opened in 2012 is the "bathtub". It adjoins a neo-Renaissance brick façade (1895) and sums up the non-conventional and resolutely feel of the Stedelijk Museum. Its collection brings together some 90 000 exhibits from the worlds of art and design. In the basement (1880-1980) you will find works by De Stijl, Mondriaan, Rietveld, CoBrA, the Bauhaus, Kienholz, Kandinsky and Picasso. Upstairs, (1980 to the present day), the collection features Kruger, Dumas, Koons, Kiefer, Baas etc and is updated every year.
