The Herengracht or Lords' Canal is the main one of the four canals along which wealthy merchants of the past chose to reside. The houses rival each other in their decorative detail, particularly along the Golden Bend. The house at n° 475, for example, has been attributed to the French architect Daniel Marot (1663-1752), while n° 476 is adorned with beautiful Corinthian pilasters. Make sure you also stop in front of nos 364-370 (the Cromhouthuizen) and 168-172 (the Huis Bartolotti).
