Digs have been carried out on the site since the 19C. Archaeologists here are unearthing vestiges of one of the most opulent cities of Ancient Cyprus. Mission accomplished: the site is quite evocative of the ancient city. First, you see the lower town, the heart of civic life, with its agora and baths. Then, a short (but steep) 10min climb leads you to the top of the acropolis, crowned by the ruins of a large temple at Aphrodite.
