According to legend, it was Roman legionaries who named this part of Galicia Finis Terrae (the end of the earth) when they arrived here. The headland is said to be the westernmost point of mainland Spain, although this distinction is also claimed by Cabo Touriñán (29km to the north). Whatever its position, Cap Fisterra certainly has an end-of-the-earth feeling and its lighthouse offers magnificent views of the ocean and the bay.
